Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, or any public RSS feed. Speaker-labelled, word-level-timestamped, export-ready. A one-hour interview finishes in two to four minutes.
What you get
What a usable podcast transcript actually needs.
Host and guest labels
Most podcast tools give you a single text block. We run pyannote diarization so a two-host interview reads as 'Host:' / 'Guest:' from the first line. Panels with three or four speakers stay separated.
RSS-aware ingestion
Paste an Apple Podcasts or Spotify show URL and we resolve the underlying RSS feed, pick the latest episode, and stream the audio directly. No download step, no copy-paste of an MP3 link.
Five export formats
TXT for show notes. DOCX for the editor. SRT and VTT for accessible audiograms. JSON if you're feeding the transcript into a search index or an LLM. One run, all five formats.
Edit and re-export
Open the transcript in our editor, fix a misheard name or jargon term, and the SRT and VTT update with it. No round-trip through a desktop captioning app or a separate cleanup tool.
Why a real transcript matters
Apple's auto-captions vs a real podcast transcript.
✗ Apple Podcasts auto-captions
Available on a fraction of episodes, locked to the Apple app, and stripped of speaker labels. Useful inside the player, useless for show notes or search.
- No speaker labels — hosts and guests merge
- Locked inside the Apple Podcasts app
- Not available on every episode
- Can't export DOCX, SRT, or JSON
- Spotify and Overcast users see nothing
✓ A real Whipscribe transcript
Speaker-labelled paragraphs, every export format, and an editor for fixing names. Drops straight into show notes, an audiogram, or a podcast search index.
- Host / Guest labels on every line
- Properly punctuated paragraphs
- Word-level timestamps
- 100+ languages, auto-detected
- TXT, SRT, VTT, DOCX, JSON — all five

FAQ
Podcast transcript questions, answered.
Which podcast platforms do you support?
Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and any podcast that publishes a public RSS feed (which is almost all of them). Paste the show URL or the direct episode URL — we resolve the feed and pull the audio. Private or paywalled feeds are not supported.
How long does a one-hour episode take?
Two to four minutes for English on a clean recording. Slightly longer for low-resource languages, heavy background music, or in-the-field interviews with traffic noise. Live progress shows in the queue and you get a browser notification when it finishes.
Will it correctly label three or four speakers?
Yes — the diarization model handles up to about eight distinct speakers. Two-host shows and host-plus-guest interviews are the cleanest case. Roundtables with overlapping speech are harder; you may need to fix a few segment boundaries in the editor.
Can I transcribe a podcast I don't own?
For personal use (research notes, accessibility, your own quote-checking) — yes. For republishing the transcript publicly — you need permission from the show. We require a rights attestation at upload to keep the platform clean.
Does it handle thick accents and non-English shows?
Whipscribe runs Whisper-large-v3, which covers 100+ languages with auto-detect. Accuracy on heavy regional accents (broad Scottish, Singlish, mixed-language code-switching) is good but not perfect — expect 5-12% Word Error Rate vs 2-5% on neutral English.
Where does my transcript go after I download it?
On the free tier nothing is retained. On paid tiers transcripts live in your private library for 365 days; you can delete any item from your account settings. We never train AI models on your audio or transcripts.
